The owner, Giuseppe, is very welcoming to English-speaking guests and will do a lot to make things comfortable and easy. The staff are friendly and the place is beautiful. Boat day trips are a lot of fun, while the deck and pool are peaceful during the week. Weekends have more of a party feel, and the cocktails are great. I’d suggest having a car or taxi available and knowing what you want to do before you arrive.

The setting right on the sea is amazing, but the property is about 6 km from Angra’s centre. It seems better suited to people with a car. For some reason Uber drivers wouldn’t come here, possibly because the access road is rough. When we needed a ride, we had to walk to the main road before an Uber would accept the trip. Reception can arrange a taxi, though it costs a bit more. There’s nowhere else to eat or drink nearby, so you’re limited to what the property offers: pasta and pizza, plus a bar. Food and drinks are a little pricey, and the lack of variety put me off. Breakfast is much better for choice, with cold cuts, cheeses, yogurt, fruit, and fresh juices. There are beach lounges with nice outdoor furniture and barbecue sets, so you can cook your own food, but you’ll need a car to get to town for supplies. Bring repellent. I couldn’t see the mosquitoes, but I could hear them, and I woke up covered in painful bites. The staff are kind and helpful, though most don’t speak English. The owner speaks English, is around, and is very accommodating. I wasn’t impressed by the room, which is why I gave the place 3 stars. The furniture and bathroom are dated, and there were cobwebs in the ceiling corners. Everything looked old. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and the TV was big. We stayed 3 nights, but the room wasn’t cleaned and we didn’t get fresh towels. Luckily, it was set up for 4 people and there were only 2 of us, so we had two sets of towels. The balcony doors open onto a space with no balcony or rails, so be careful if you have kids or have been drinking. We had a pleasant stay, but with a few improvements it could have been great.
