Basilica Palace Hotel

I stayed from May 22 to May 24, and it was a really bad experience. The room and bedding were extremely dirty, and there was an unpleasant smell. The food was poor too, and basic items were often missing. Rice was unavailable at lunch on two days, and one kitchen employee responded sarcastically when we asked about it. The staff were rude, and the service overall was terrible. I only stayed because the excursion had already paid for our lodging in advance. I don’t mind a simple place, but cleanliness, respect, and basic organization matter. This was very disappointing.

My girlfriend and I are from Curitiba. We booked this hotel through Booking months ahead and paid in advance. The photos and description in the app looked appealing, but what we found was completely different. We were due to check in at 14:00, but when we arrived at 17:20 the room still wasn’t ready. They also told us parking was R$30 a day, so we left the car on the street. The corridors were extremely dirty. The windows looked onto strange inner areas where we could see rubbish, built-up dirt, a dead cockroach, and even a nearly dead little bird. We took photos. The room was the biggest letdown. It didn’t match the Booking pictures at all. The supposed double bed was two single beds pushed together, there was a lot of mold on the bathroom walls and ceiling, and the minibar was extremely dirty. The window had no balcony and looked onto a filthy roof, while the Booking image clearly showed a spotless room with a balcony. The bed hadn’t been made, and the sheets were visibly dirty, as though previous guests had used them and they hadn’t been changed before we came in. We took photos of that too. We’re not especially demanding, but basic hygiene and what’s advertised are the least a guest should be able to expect. After all that, we took our bags and left that same day. We lost nearly a whole day of our trip trying to rearrange everything. Thankfully, we found another hotel nearby that was much cleaner and more organized. Our stay at Basílica Palace Hotel was extremely negative and felt like a waste of money. For whoever is responsible, if you read feedback: use real photos of the place and provide the basic hygiene you promise customers. As guests, we felt completely misled.

The meals were poor, with food missing from the buffet and long lines building up because of it. By the time we could serve ourselves, the food was cold. One employee even said that if we weren’t happy, we could just heat it in the microwave. The way customers were treated was terrible too. I don’t recommend this place. If you want to get stressed in Aparecida, stay here. A serious hotel accounting mistake also held up our excursion group for more than two hours and disrupted our return plans. In short, it’s one of the worst hotels in Aparecida.

What a terrible experience! We booked and paid for a spacious room with a balcony on the fifth floor. Yesterday they had told us that was what we’d get. Instead, our room had no balcony and was nothing like what we’d booked. When I complained, the options were to take a tiny balcony room on the third floor or go find another hotel with two babies in our arms. The mistake was theirs. We stayed and gave it a chance because of the babies, but then waited 30 minutes to get into the room. We paid the full amount, and the room was awful. It was dirty, with a terrible shower, badly placed sheets, poor-quality mattresses, and a double bed made from two singles. The air conditioning barely worked, the balcony door wouldn’t close, and there was shouting in the street all night. The bathroom and room were both tiny and cramped, with no comfort at all. It looked nothing like the photos or what I’d reserved through WhatsApp. How was I supposed to find another hotel at 5 in the afternoon with two babies? They also hadn’t told us that parking was outside the hotel, with no security at all, which just made getting around harder. The breakfast was no better, everything looked old or stale and tasted bland. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, and this was by far the worst. I regret it terribly and can’t recommend it.
