Golden Apart Hotel

The room and blanket weren't clean, so we had to clean the room ourselves and buy a blanket. Given the condition we found it in, it didn't seem like there was room service.

I stayed here in July 2024 when I visited Aparecida. The receptionists were really kind and attentive, and everything about the place was great. It's also close to the sanctuary.

We stayed in apartment 32, which has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of them an ensuite with air conditioning. It was spotless and well equipped, with kitchen utensils and appliances including a stove, oven, fridge, microwave, and even a blender. There were also bed and bath linens, a clothesline, and dressers. Natanael welcomed us and was very helpful. The location worked well for us, on the corner by the little market and close to both the Sanctuary and Basílica Velha. Before we left, I found out there’s another way across besides the Passarela. The hotel also has parking, though it’s a steep dirt lot across the road. The gate is kept shut, and reception has the key, so the car is secure. My one concern was the windows, which had no protective screens. I was there with my two-year-old daughter, so that worried me. Maybe one or two apartments could have screened windows for families with little kids, or working locks could be offered. The locks in our apartment were broken, probably from use. I’ve already recommended the place and would definitely come back.

The apartments are spacious, with a large living room and kitchen, and the bedroom beds were comfortable. The pillows were thin, though, so I’d suggest bringing your own. There are two sofas and a small TV with the local free channels. The shower pressure was good, but the drain couldn’t keep up and water pooled on the shower floor. Staff were polite and helpful, and there’s guest parking. Drinks including water, sparkling water, coconut water, beer, juice, and soda are sold from a freezer at reception. We drove from Aparecida via the Dutra and took the entrance by the Basilica parking lot. After that, the Federal Highway Police had closed a street because of heavy traffic, and nobody seemed to know about it. Google Maps and Waze offered no alternate route, so we drove around trying to find the hotel. My husband eventually parked on a random street and walked to the hotel while I shared our location and called the owner, who explained another route. Once there, it was easy to walk to the Basilica from Golden Apart Hotel. It’s also near the permanent street market, with stalls selling clothes, decorative items, and religious goods. There are other hotels and restaurants on that street, including places serving packed meals, set plates, or buffet food. Golden Apart Hotel rents out full apartments with a bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom, and laundry area. You can bring food and cook there. The kitchen has a microwave, stove, some pots, a thermos, plates, cutlery, glasses, and cups, enough for four people. That setup could suit anyone who likes making their own meals or has small children who need bottles. Breakfast is brought to the apartment. When we arrived, we were told the next morning’s food was on the table, with some items in the fridge. We got homemade bread and small baguettes, individual portions of margarine and jam, ham and cheese, milk, juice, strawberry yogurt, papaya, banana, apple, orange, filled biscuits, Bauducco chocolate cakes, toast, ground coffee to brew, and chocolate drink powder. We had to ask reception for bath towels because there weren’t any in the room.
