Hotel Pousada Santa Rosa

You can walk to everything from here, with shops close by and the basilica nearby. Dona Cassia was so warm and welcoming. We’d happily come back, and I really recommend it.

The day before our trip, they canceled our Booking reservation, saying there were no rooms left. My wife called another number and was told rooms were available, but at twice the price we had booked. We’d made the reservation a month earlier, and the app said no advance payment was needed. Then someone contacted us from a number that didn’t match the listing and asked for 50% by Pix. I got suspicious and offered to pay by card, but they said they don’t accept cards. It was our first time in the city, and the whole experience felt like extortion at every turn.

The rooms and dining area were spotless and well kept, and the service felt genuinely welcoming. It’s a simple pousada, but a lovely one, less than a five-minute walk from the sanctuary entrance. We enjoyed it so much that we’re already planning another stay. Recommended!

The price felt steep for what we got. Breakfast had very few choices, and they charged extra for parking. The room was small, the bed was uncomfortable, and the TV was old and tiny. When we arrived there wasn’t even a remote for the air conditioner, so we had to get up to switch it on or off and couldn’t adjust the temperature. A pretty poor pousada.
