The bed was comfortable, the shower was good, and the location worked well, across from the church and close to the fair. Apart from that, we had a very frustrating stay and wouldn’t return. We hadn’t been to Aparecida for 15 years and had high expectations. It was my husband’s first visit. Arrival was chaotic, and the staff didn’t seem organized for a busy period. We were given a wristband and room key, with no information about the hotel or local attractions. When we asked reception about the hotel bar, the person there couldn’t tell us when it opened or its hours. The food needs a lot of improvement for what they charge. Breakfast had few choices and the egg was cold. Lunch and dinner kept repeating the same salads and proteins, and dinner seemed like reheated lunch. The food was plain, not very tasty, and the meat was tough. Drinks at meals also had to be paid for right away. We didn’t know that on the first day and were caught off guard. The meal lines were huge, too. The restaurant staff were rude. I signaled a waiter, who nudged another waitress, but she refused to come to our table, so he came himself even though he seemed reluctant. It felt as if we were asking for a favor instead of paying guests. At lunch one day, a waitress was leaning against a wall while eating from the buffet. The staff often looked sour and didn’t seem professional. We asked for the room to be cleaned and the towels changed on our third day, then went out. When we came back, nothing had been done, and reception gave me a flimsy excuse. Two men cleaning the room next door kindly gave us a clean set of towels when I asked, so at least we could shower. They were very polite. I noticed the same people who worked in the restaurant also did cleaning, which seemed like too much work for them and hurt the service. Apart from those two cleaners, the other staff we dealt with were rude and rough. I worked in hotels for many years and expected better.

The afternoon staff were the bright spot. Luiz, Altair, and another employee who had just arrived were committed to helping guests and finding solutions. They also recommended the ferry tour, which was worth doing. I hope there are more staff like them. The rest of the stay was awful, and this was my first and last time at the hotel. The entrance and the hall by the rooms were dirty and smelled bad. On my last day, I saw a staff member mopping with dirty water in a black bucket, without changing it, which may explain the smell. The room had no closet, and the TV wasn’t cable or smart. There was so much dust on the headboard that my finger came away black. The pillows and cushion were dirty, with hair stuck to the cushion, and the windows were marked with grime. There was no sense of proper cleaning. Breakfast was very basic, with few choices, and a fly landed on the food. Other guests alerted an employee, but he seemed to ignore them and kept looking at his phone. That felt disrespectful. There was a lot of unprofessionalism, especially from the receptionist Giovana. She seemed unwilling to help resolve guest problems and spoke badly about other employees. The hotel needs better management, more training, and more staff, because the current team seems overloaded. If you decide to stay despite the negative reviews, bring your own pillows and blanket. Also read the hotel rules carefully, especially Reception articles 3 and 4.

We decided not to stay at MAPP Hotel because the price changed dramatically when we arrived to check in. We’d been in touch by WhatsApp and were quoted R$ 3,300 for Carnival week, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. About two hours after our last contact, at the hotel, we were told it would cost R$ 5,000, R$ 1,700 more than the quote. They said only a room with five beds was available, and since there were four of us, we’d have to pay for the fifth bed even though we wouldn’t use it. That explanation made no sense to us and felt abusive, especially after we’d already been given a price. The hotel also looked empty and quiet, which made the situation even harder to understand. We felt the way they handled it showed a lack of transparency and commitment to customers. They lost our business.

I loved my stay at MAPP HOTEL and felt very well looked after. I became ill the day before and on the day we were leaving, after eating a terrible snack at mac Donald's. The hotel staff treated me wonderfully, made me tea, and when I couldn’t come down for breakfast, they sent my niece and sister to bring it up to my room. Sr. Altair took great care of me, and I’m grateful to him and the whole team, including the very attentive woman in the kitchen whose name I can’t remember because I was feeling so sick. Excellent service. I’d definitely come back and highly recommend the hotel.
