Pousada Mae Ternura

The rooms are nice, and the service is good.

Great.

This place was a nightmare, and I wouldn't recommend it even to my worst enemy. What should have been a peaceful trip turned into one, and we left two days early without a refund. The rooms and facilities were awful: no proper bedding, old pillows, dirty common areas, and a disgusting breakfast that was nowhere near hygienic. There was no accessibility, no elevator, and the stairs to the rooms were dangerously unsuitable for older people. You couldn't tell who worked there because nobody wore uniforms. The manager was terribly rude, and trying to talk to him was impossible. When I brought up noise outside the permitted hours and asked for the missing sheet and pillow, he got angry and verbally abused me and my 73-year-old father.

It was a very lovely experience overall, and I still hope the owner hears these suggestions. The place was quiet, but the sheets should fit the mattress, and there should be hangers for clothes. We had to ask a staff member to bring an extra top sheet because there wasn't one. Breakfast was very simple, and by 8:15 the cheese was gone, followed soon after by the milk, even though breakfast runs until 9. The staff know how many guests are staying, so it seems possible to prepare enough. These are basic things that could improve the inn. Still, we had a wonderful time. Go and see what I mean.
