Búzios Mar Hotel

The room did have an ocean view, but what I actually saw was the roof. Getting to the first level of rooms means climbing a lot of stairs, so I wouldn't recommend this place for seniors. There's something like an elevator, but you still have to climb the hill before you can use it.

The location is really good, and the view is fantastic. We stayed four nights, and the room felt like good value for the price. Breakfast was okay, though it could be a lot better. The bigger letdown was the menu: my girlfriend and I ate at the hotel two nights and were disappointed with the food. I'd suggest management rethink the food concept. If the meals were delicious, this would have been a five-star stay for me.

The restaurant up at the top of the hotel looks out over all of João Fernandes beach, and it opens onto a beautiful infinity pool with a great view for photos. They also serve lunch, snacks, and dinner separately, with delicious dishes. Getting up there is easier now, too: a staffed funicular elevator runs to the highest floor. I stayed in a room beside reception and found the hotel comfortable and charming. The staff were attentive, and the breakfast attendants were especially friendly and polite. Breakfast was wonderful. The place was kept spotlessly clean, with a lot of care. My bathroom worked well, including both hot and cold water, and the room had new air conditioning, a comfortable bed, clean soft linens, frequently changed towels, cable TV, and working Wi-Fi. I loved my stay and will definitely come back. Excellent service deserves recognition. Thanks to everyone at Búzios Mar Hotel.

We booked through booking with free cancellation, but they charged the full amount the next day. Even after we cancelled, the money wasn't returned automatically. We had to email several times, and it took a month to get the refund. Customer support was a nightmare, replying again and again with the same nonsense.
