Pousada Novo Horizonte

This was the worst experience I've ever had at an inn. I booked for Friday, 27/12, to meet my niece and her family, who had been staying there since 26/12. I arrived with my wife around 11:30 am and was told early check-in wasn't possible because the room was still being cleaned. That was fine, so we went to lunch and around town with my niece's family. We got back at 4:30 pm after leaving around 12:40. They then said my room had no power and would be ready in five minutes. Those five minutes turned into nearly three hours. The electricity only came back around 7:15 pm. My wife was upset and asked the reservations attendant what was happening. He said they were fixing the problem and that it was unusual. But only a few places seemed to have lost power. The room next door worked perfectly, including its air conditioning. A heated argument followed. A blonde person who seemed to be the owners' daughter yelled from reception, telling them to give our money back and send us away. An older blonde woman who seemed to own the inn then argued heatedly with my wife, who was already very nervous. In the end, the woman said she would refund us only if we left, and accused us of embarrassing her. There was no minibar in my room, and the bed made a very loud noise. My niece's double bed had a hole in it. The floor in my room was peeling, and the old window air conditioner made a terrible racket. They provided an old fridge for guests' food and drinks, but it barely cooled anything. I left two bottles of mineral water there, and one disappeared. They did replace it with another. The bathroom shower kept dripping and needed a trick to stop, even though it took a while to do so. There were exposed wires hanging beside the entrance gate. I tried to sleep, but around 11:40 pm there was still a group talking loudly, including the owner and her daughter. This was the worst stay I've had at an inn, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The inn is well located, breakfast has plenty of options, and the staff are very attentive. The owners were also helpful and came to our aid when we needed them most. I plan to stay there again when I return to Búzios.

This was the worst inn experience I've had. The staff act as if helping you is a favor, and you have to keep asking for toilet paper because they leave only one roll in the room. There was no minibar or anything else for keeping drinks cold. The room was in terrible condition. We were there for three days over New Year's. We spent two of them without electricity, and the air conditioning and fans didn't work. The heat and mosquitoes kept us from sleeping. On the third day we woke up to leave, but there was no water for a shower. The inn looked very different from the photos posted on all the booking channels.

We're big fans of this inn. We've stayed before, and it's our favorite place in Buzios Manguiños. We felt very safe and well looked after. The rooms and facilities were impeccable, a 10 out of 10 in every way. There's a reason we keep coming back, and we'd recommend it because it really deserves it.
