Pousada Flor de Pitaya

I stayed in suite 03 at Pousada Flor de Pitaya from 17/03 to 01/04/22, and I have no complaints. The bed was very good, the shower was excellent, and the inn is close to everything. The breakfast was great, and the women who handled breakfast and cleaning were lovely. It was very good value for money. I do wonder whether guests who complain about the breakfast get something better at home. When I’m back in Arraial, I’ll stay here again. Thanks to Thalyta and the staff for all their kindness and warm treatment.

The photos don’t match what I found. The bathroom was dirty and smelled bad, with water leaking by the toilet. The air conditioner was old and filthy, so I didn’t use it. The mattress was poor, and they didn’t change the towels as they’d said they would. Breakfast was weak, and the sandwich press was broken. I saw the inn next door, which was much better quality and had a lower nightly rate. Unfortunately, I’d already paid a deposit. This place really needs a full renovation, both in the building and in its management. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

It’s a low-cost inn, which suited me since I spend my money on food, drinks, and outings. The breakfast is homey and generous, the service is friendly, and the owner is very helpful. It’s near Broadway (church), about an eight-minute walk to Mucugê. Just know that the economy room is very rustic and isn’t for anyone looking for much comfort. I like a little comfort myself, and since I was alone I hadn’t paid attention to that when booking. When I arrived, I switched rooms for a small extra charge, of course.

The only good thing was that the two employees were friendly. I didn’t see the owners except when I arrived, and the place needs much more attention from them. I felt like I’d been put up somewhere for free. Honestly, I can’t find another positive point; those two women seem to be carrying the inn on their backs. My room smelled strongly of wood, and the photos had nothing to do with what I got. The air conditioner was in terrible condition and so dirty I wouldn’t use it. The kitchen where breakfast is served was unhygienic, with a horrifying yellow fridge and a sink full of dishes waiting to be washed. I felt like I was in an unhygienic men’s dorm. The bedding was in awful condition and seemed dirty. The bathroom had nowhere to put toiletries, and its door wouldn’t shut from the outside, so it stayed open, letting out that strong wood smell. Breakfast had only one juice option, diluted so much it had no flavor and was nearly warm. The coffee was weak and tasteless, and the cakes smelled strongly of egg.
