Pousada Tororão

The gym is awful, with very old equipment and hardly any space. The rest of the hotel was wonderful: the staff were all kind and helpful, the rooms were great and the bed was very comfortable. The pool and sauna area was a real highlight. Breakfast had good options without sugar and gluten, but the fruit was always unripe and mostly left whole, instead of peeled and cut up like you often find elsewhere.

The staff were great, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and there’s a pleasant pool and a very good breakfast. They even serve afternoon coffee. The location is fantastic, on Rua Mucugê and close to the beach. I definitely recommend this pousada!

The location and the staff are the two things this pousada gets right. The professionals were consistently kind and very competent, even while dealing with a number of problems that made things uncomfortable for guests. Breakfast was terrible, with little variety and sometimes even basic things like French bread missing. The fried egg came soaked in oil and tasted greasy. The pool area was poor too, and the bar menu had few food and drink choices. Guests also aren’t allowed to bring their own items into that area. The room was decent and the bathroom was good. Housekeeping did a good job, but it took far too long. The photos make it look like a lovely pousada, but to me it’s more like a very nice boarding house.

The noise next door made it almost impossible to sleep. There’s a party house beside the hotel that plays loud music through the night. Even though the bed was comfortable, we couldn’t rest, and I wouldn’t have chosen this place if I’d known about that. There was also an issue with our booking. I reserved a specific suite on the website, but on arrival we were sent to a completely different, smaller room, with a worse bathroom, an extra bed we hadn’t requested and very little room to move around. There was a locked door in the middle of the room, which felt strange and uncomfortable, and the layout was awkward. After I raised it, they moved us to the suite we had actually booked. Breakfast was disappointing too: few choices, poor quality fruit that seemed out of season and unripe, and juices that weren’t natural. The bathroom toilet also had a very weak flush and didn’t work properly. Overall, the stay was disappointing, especially because of the noise and the accommodation problems. I wouldn’t stay here again.
