Paradise Hostel

We had a great stay, with a wonderful welcome and service. The place was clean, organized, and had great facilities. It's in a great location, a 3-minute walk from Praia dos Anjos and 10 minutes on foot from Praia Grande. I highly recommend it.

A filthy hostel. The bathroom was dirty, moldy, and had black walls from going so long without cleaning. The rooms were stuffy, and the mattresses were thin and dirty. There was dust and spiderwebs on the beds. The shower didn't work, and the drains were clogged, with water coming back up through them. The place is unfit to stay in, and I wouldn't recommend it at all. The service was awful, and the woman making breakfast was very rude.

I stayed just one night through a travel agency. The shared room slept ten people but had only one bathroom and a ceiling fan. Breakfast was basic, the common areas were pleasant, and cleanliness was average. I found the bed a bit uncomfortable and hard. It's very close to Praia dos Anjos, about 5-10 minutes on foot.

I only stayed at this hostel because the travel agency bundled it into a package. The staff were completely unfriendly and acted like helping guests was a favor. Service was poor, and they didn't even say good morning. Breakfast was miserable and meager. To give the place some credit, my room and bathroom were clean, and at least my bed was comfortable. You give up privacy to save money, but it wasn't so bad that I had to sleep clutching my backpack. There was a drawer in the bed for my things. I'm fussy about this and always carry a padlock, which came in handy for locking everything away. The location was another plus, with an easy walk to the wonderful Praia do Forno. I'd recommend the hostel only with caution.
