Pousada Mirante da Prainha

The room had a non-smart TV, a bathroom with lots of mold near the bottom of the shower glass, an old mirror stained around the edges, and a minibar whose door wouldn't close because the seal seemed ancient. Late at night and early in the morning, people were shouting and arguing with a child. The breakfast was especially disappointing. I travel a lot, and this was the worst breakfast I've had at a place I've stayed. The Booking photos for the inn and its breakfast were misleading. I went during low season, and when I first saw breakfast I thought I must have arrived too early and that more food would come out. It didn't. There were very few choices: bread, ham and cheese with no sandwich maker, cake, one kind of fruit, sausage and scrambled eggs. No yogurt, cheese bread, couscous, or fresh fruit juice, just cheap boxed juice. This is the kind of place I wouldn't even walk past again. It still has a long way to go just to be bad. I don't recommend it.

The location was ideal for us, just a short walk from Prainha, whose beautiful water and peaceful, romantic feel won us over. The pousada was cozy, welcoming, and family-oriented, just right for a special trip for two. We chose it to celebrate our wedding anniversary as a kind of second honeymoon, and we're so glad we did. A big thank you to the whole team, especially the receptionists Ana and Deyse, who greeted us with so much care and kindness. We'd also like to thank Avontur Voyage for making the trip smooth and special, with so many unforgettable moments. Our days were full of love, rest, and happiness, and we'll always carry the memories with us. ❤️

The staff were lovely, from reception and breakfast to the gentleman working at night. Breakfast was tasty too, especially the well-seasoned hot dogs and tapioca made fresh to order, with your choice of filling. The pool was clean, and the outdoor common area was pleasant. There are also pool and foosball tables, though the pool table is a little broken. A few cats roamed around the pousada, which we didn't really like, but it was okay. Getting there was tough. Despite the name Mirante da Prainha, Prainha isn't really visible and is quite far away. The main entrance is very steep, and in bad weather it would be almost impossible to drive up. Uber obviously won't take you up, so you'd have to walk down the whole slope. The less difficult, closer auxiliary entrance goes through a favela and is steep too. We had to request room cleaning. That's good in a way, since staff don't enter unless asked, but when we did ask, they didn't clean well or replace a soiled sheet. There was hair in the sink drain when we arrived, and it wasn't removed. Gross. The bathroom has a small transparent window that can be seen through from outside, so anyone in the room has to avoid that part of the balcony. I wouldn't return, although there were some good points.

The room was comfortable, with a balcony that had chairs, a hammock, and a clothesline, which was useful. The pousada doesn't provide clothespins, though, and the bed base in our room was broken and could be fixed for better comfort. Getting there without a car can also be tiring, since you have to climb two hills. The place was clean and well organized, with ample parking for anyone driving. The surroundings were pleasant, and the location was good. From the moment we arrived, the attentive and helpful staff looked after us throughout our stay. Breakfast was excellent.
