Solares Arraial Loft

The room was comfortable for five guests, the air conditioning cooled well, and there were basic kitchen items. But we arrived to find other guests in my room, apparently due to disorganization, and had to wait an hour for them to leave. The man who greeted us wasn’t very helpful, though the woman in charge was polite. The big drawback was parking: it cost 30$ a day to leave the car parked on the street to avoid problems.

The loft is comfortable and the place is pretty. Having a kitchen is handy for meals. But I was on the 6th floor, and the shower stall had grime on the wall and soap streaks. The kitchen was greasy too. I wasn’t happy with the cleaning.

I booked this place through Hotéis.com and paid in the app. I’ve never had trouble with that before, but here they said there was no vacancy and that we hadn’t made a reservation. They also said they don’t recognize bookings made through Hotéis.com. That’s absurd, since it’s a legitimate app, and if they’re listed there, they must have signed up themselves. If they no longer want app bookings, they should remove their listing from the site. I’ve already filed a complaint and am waiting for a refund. Just a heads-up to everyone. At least the caretaker who greets people at the door is super friendly.

Our reservation wasn’t there when we arrived, even though we’d paid over half a million pesos. Despegar and the accommodation both refused to take responsibility, and I’m still waiting for my refund. I’d seen comments saying many bookings get canceled, so be very careful about choosing this place. The whole thing ruined our vacation, and I think they’re scammers.
