The balcony view is jaw-dropping, even though the pousada itself is simple. You can watch the sun rise over the water and set behind the cliffs. From the balcony, it’s also possible to photograph the sun, the starry sky at night, and all the surfers in the water. Without a doubt, the best place in Baia Formosa, especially if you enjoy photography.

We paid 160 Reais per night in March 2022, and everyone welcomed us so well: Sra Socorro, Sr Jair, the night guard, and the owner of the pousadas. Breakfast was served at the fancier pousada in Baia Formosa, where the cast of the soap opera Flôr do Caribe stayed. We felt pretty fancy! They did everything they could for our comfort and well-being. Thank you to everyone at EcoBaia!

The pousada itself is simple but very clean. My issue was that when I contacted Pousada Chalemar to book a chalet, they offered me a cheaper apartment next door, which it turned out wasn’t actually next door. It’s on another street and has nothing to do with the facilities at Pousada Chalemar, which I already knew.

A guest blasted music until 2 a.m., and there wasn’t any staff around to tell them to turn it off. Then the same guest started it up again at 6:30 in the morning. On top of that, nobody was at reception when we arrived, so we waited more than 10 minutes. The room had lots of dust and mold, and the bed was small and hard. A complete disgrace. A cabaret is more organized, at least it has an owner.

We had to walk quite a way to the hotel next door for breakfast. It was tasty, but the distance was a hassle. The place itself was clean and organized, though some things felt a bit outdated.
