Everything was bad.

The breakfast was awful. The tours in Barreirinhas start at 8, but breakfast at the pousada only opens at 7:20. All the guests come into the small, stuffy dining room at once and rush for the food. Within minutes the dishes are empty, and the staff can’t refill them quickly enough. There’s no air conditioning or even fans in the room, so mosquitoes gather on the tables and food. We had to gulp down whatever we managed to get in just a few minutes so we wouldn’t miss our tours. I can’t recommend this pousada. I stayed there from August 6 to 9, 2025. The pousada is basic, and the colorful bed linens didn’t match, but I could live with that. The breakfast situation was the real problem.

The worst part was the noise. There’s a little bar almost across from the pousada that blasts music at an absurd volume. From Saturday into Sunday nobody could sleep, and the same thing happened Sunday night. It’s surreal to be exhausted and still unable to rest. I don’t recommend it. The pousada is very basic, which by itself isn’t a problem, and the staff are attentive. But the bathroom had a broken side of the shower enclosure, so the floor ended up soaked, and the toilet felt loose, like it hadn’t been secured properly. The tiny sink splashed water everywhere, and although the shower itself was good, its pipe was so short I was practically bathing against the wall. Breakfast was poor, with few choices and awful margarine. It starts at 7:20, and everyone crowds in at once because the tours usually pick people up at 8. There isn’t room for everyone. The location also meant I was never the first pickup. The street is dark, full of potholes, and has no sidewalk. That’s not the pousada’s fault, but a woman traveling alone should know what to expect.
