Apartment 9 was terribly renovated and unfinished. The bathroom was so small it was practically for a child, an adult could barely get in. The bed was as hard as a prison cot. The sheets were worn, the pillowcases dirty, and the air conditioner was caked in dirt, which my husband had to open up and clean. The pillows were old and hard, and the towels were so old they were rough and smelly. The rooms had no ventilation, and the makeshift second bedroom had no windows. The glass doors stuck. The kitchen had a good range of appliances, but when you’re there, what you really need is a good shower, a decent bed, and good linens. Booking.com keeps getting worse by accepting anything on its site. When you arrive, the place looks nothing like the photos it shows. My advice: charge a little more, but invest in your guests’ sleep and bathing comfort.

We were very tired when we arrived early, so it helped a lot that the owner let us into the room before the scheduled check-in time. The team were also very attentive. I stayed in chalet 16, close to the entrance, and had a good stay. The chalet was well maintained and equipped with a kitchen and water dispenser. The main downside is the distance from the center. There’s no Uber in town, and taxis cost 20 reais each way, or you can make a fairly long walk. There aren’t many food delivery options in town either. Even so, I was quite satisfied and think it’s a great place to stay in Barreirinhas.

The apartment was fully equipped, with all the utensils, a portable barbecue, and basics like salt, oil, and ground coffee. I recommend apartments 29 and 31 belonging to seu Domingos. The complex has a large pool and a good leisure area with ping pong, foosball, billiards, a sauna, and a barbecue area. It’s 2 km from the center. A taxi costs 20 reais, or a motorcycle taxi is 7. In town, shop at Camino supermarket, the others cost almost twice as much. A really good experience.

The villa was full of cockroaches, jumping frogs, and ants, so my stay was terrible. The pool was dirty on the first day and fine the next, but then we ran out of water inside the villa. The owner also sold us a very expensive trip to Lagoa Azul without checking that the lagoon had been dry since October, for over a month. They didn’t inform themselves before selling us that excursion.
