Telma Hotel

The staff are great and breakfast was excellent. The shower could be a bit better, though, the bathroom door was missing a handle, and the pillows bothered me a little. Everything was clean and cozy, and the location is great, with several restaurants and bars nearby.

The rooms are comfortable and the location is good, which helps explain the higher price. The inn's Wi-Fi wasn't working when I visited, and that got in the way of my work. Breakfast runs from 7 to 8:30, which I think is too short a window. Service feels more personal, and the woman on reception at night was very kind to us. If you don't need to be there early, I'd look into whether an Airbnb might work.

The service was awful, from the staff and the owner, Telma. She rudely made me move my car out of the garage, saying it couldn't stay there. I told her nobody had mentioned that, and she just said, “Move the car, because I need to put mine there.” That was disrespectful, especially since many guests are at the hotel for procedures at the nearby medical center. I don't recommend it. Terrible service and a terrible hotel.

Don't book here on trust. My son arrived at 5 in the morning expecting to stay until the next day, and they charged him 270.00 for two nights. He left at 5 that same afternoon. They didn't take a cent off the card charge, even though he'd only used the room for 10 hours to store his bag while he was being seen at the medical center, then was told to come back on another date. It felt like a real rip-off. A little empathy wouldn't hurt, but the staff and owners of this place don't seem to know what that is. Charging 270 reais for 10 hours from someone going in for treatment, I really don't understand how much you need to take from others to feel that you've gained something in life. Congratulations, TELMA. Take all that materialism with you to the grave, and I hope you get empathy from others if you ever need it. And to the employee who answers the phone, I hope you remember these petty actions one day. I don't know how you sleep at night. Don't trust them. If you book here, book by the night. There's no agreement or negotiation once you've paid.
