Belém Soft Hotel

Two things were good: the location is close to many tourist attractions, and breakfast had a good range of options. Even so, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. We stayed in early March 2024, and the check-in was a mess. The receptionist seemed completely lost and had none of our reservation details. She quickly charged us extra for our dog and parking, but couldn’t help with anything else. Then she demanded our dog’s vaccination booklet, which hadn’t been mentioned when we booked. We explained it was at the bottom of a suitcase and asked to go up, unpack, and bring it down in 10-15 minutes. She wouldn’t let us upstairs and insisted on seeing it immediately. I reminded her she had our details and credit card information, and that we were staying several days and would be back shortly. We retrieved the document and handed it over, but I’ve never encountered anyone so rude and stupid at a hotel reception. A few minutes after reaching the room, we found ticks. One was attached to my wife and caused a large rash. Please see the photos attached. We also have videos, but Google’s review section wouldn’t let me add them. The hotel moved us to another room and the issue was resolved, but when we reported the insects, reception seemed to know already and simply gave us a different room. The internet was practically nonexistent. WiFi kept dropping and was extremely slow, so they may say they offer it, but it barely worked. We also had to dig around for basic information about parking locations and operating hours. For a hotel, they should have basic hospitality training, and they don’t.

The staff were very kind, and the hotel looked clean and well organized. The rooms are quite large, both the single and couple rooms. A friend had an issue with their room, but it was fixed quickly. Everything is close by, too. Recommended.

The room was basic and stark, with a cold feel to it. There was no hot water at the basin, and the internet was poor. The TV was okay and there was a fridge. Breakfast was the saving grace. Fine for a quick one-night stop, but I wouldn’t recommend it otherwise.

The room is very simple and not planned especially well. There’s just one outlet in the whole room, and it’s far from the beds. Service and location were good.
