Hotel Marajoara

Nice place, nice people, and worth the price.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of April 2025, my wife, our two young children and I. We booked just a few days ahead, choosing it for its family-friendly feel and central location. The staff were the best part. Most seemed to be from the same family, and they were warm and quick to help throughout our stay. Breakfast was also a highlight. It was simple and didn't have many choices, but everything was fresh and well prepared. You could ask for tapioca or scrambled eggs made to order. The central location made it easy to walk to some sights during the day. At night, though, the area around the hotel, especially its street, was dark and deserted, and we felt uneasy about walking there with the family. We had room 9, a basic room with a bathroom. Its sliding bathroom door wouldn't close or lock properly and often opened by itself, which felt uncomfortable even among family. One night the air conditioner got very loud and stopped cooling, making it hard to sleep. We told reception the next day and they fixed it that same day, but it still affected our stay. The electric shower barely heated the water, so we had to keep the flow very low to get it lukewarm. The room had beds, a mini-fridge, a small wardrobe, a safe, a table and a chair. Everything was quite basic, which may suit someone who just needs a place to sleep, without expecting much comfort. These issues were in room 9 and may or may not apply to other rooms. It's an affordable place to rest, with kind service and a good breakfast. If the facilities had been a little better, or we hadn't run into those problems, we'd have rated it higher. Still, it may be worth considering for someone looking for a budget stay, daytime access to the centre and especially welcoming service.

I haven't been inside, but I pass by all the time and think it looks lovely. Friends who've stayed there say it's really good.

We stayed over the last weekend of January 2025. We arrived on the 31st at around 2:30 a.m., after letting them know in advance, and were welcomed kindly despite the late hour. Our room was comfortable and had a terrace facing the hotel's street, which was very quiet. The hotel is well located near two avenues leading to major sights, including Basílica de Nazaré. Breakfast was good, and the staff were attentive and friendly.
