ibis budget Belo Horizonte Savassi

I stayed at Novotel BH Savassi with my wife and in-laws, and the experience fell well short of what I expected from a Novotel. There were visible leaks in several ceilings and corridors, and the whole hotel seemed to need maintenance. My in-laws' room had marks on the bathroom wall that even the cleaning staff said shouldn't have been left there. In our first room, the toilet leaked and flooded the bathroom. We moved to another room, where the towels had large stains that looked like blood. The shower was dirty and had buildup, too. We asked in the morning for our room to be cleaned before we went out, but when we got back late that afternoon, nobody had touched it. We told reception about all of this. The staff agreed it wasn't the standard expected from Novotel, but they offered nothing to make up for it.

Our trip was memorable in large part because of the receptionist who checked us in. I don't know her name, but she was incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived, and made us feel welcome right away. She explained everything we needed to know and answered our questions patiently and knowledgeably. Check-in was quick and smooth, so we could settle in without delay. That kind of attentive, personable service made a big difference to our stay.

For the price, this was a really good hotel. The location is great, and the front desk staff communicate very well in English. Valet parking was nice, and there's a good workout room and sauna. The on-site restaurant can be inconsistent, but it's decent overall, and the buffet breakfast is nice.

Savassi is one of the best areas to stay in, and the hotel's location was nice. The rooms are fine for a short stay, though the gym is small and old.
