Pousada Y-Goá

It's a good spot if you're looking for peace and quiet, though it's far from the city center. The pousada is inside a condominium with a market, wine shop, and pizza and pastry place. The beach is close and easy to reach; it's clean and calm, and the area where it meets the river is something special. They provide beach umbrellas and chairs. The place is surrounded by nature, and birds and squirrels kept us company at breakfast. Meals are simple everyday food, just what you need and tasty. The pousada itself is simple but pleasant, and all the staff were polite and helpful. I was disappointed with our small room, though. The bedding didn't seem clean, especially the visibly dirty blanket, and the bedrooms could use some attention to their appearance. I recommend it and would come back.

The kitchen staff are kind, but some of the other employees served us with real reluctance and even rudeness. The hotel has a good, spacious area and potential, but it needs updating and much better care. The curtains are very sheer with no blackout lining, the TV is attached to the wall with no panel and wires hanging down, and the switches have unfinished holes visible in the wall. The bathrooms have no handheld bidet shower. There's no air conditioning in the hotel restaurant. It could be a good hotel, but it isn't right now.

The beach is great, and I'd never been to Guaratuba before, but I'll definitely come back. The pousada is simple; the place itself and the hospitality make all the difference. Reception and the rest of the staff looked after me very well. I'm grateful for everyone's warmth and courtesy. Sometimes simplicity is just what matters.

There aren't any convenient outlets in the rooms for charging a phone, since they're tucked under the beds. The pillows and mattresses aren't good, and the doors are very old. Still, it's good value for the price, with the beach just 2 minutes away. The hotel is in a large condominium, so it feels very safe, and both dinner and breakfast are free.
