Joy Hostel

The common space at Joy Hostel was great for relaxing, playing games, and getting work done. I edit videos, and I could focus on my film projects there. Everything was clean and well organized. I arrived very late, but Pedro still greeted me warmly and took the time to help and guide me. I really appreciated it. Amanda was amazing too, cheerful, kind, and generous. We played games and talked about life and culture in Bahrain, and she listened so attentively. She’s absolutely in the right place, and the hostel is lucky to have her. I’d happily come back and recommend it.

The reception restaurant has some great options. The hostel itself was clean, nicely decorated, and well organized, with a great location. Staff were kind and attentive. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in!

Joy Hostel had a co-working area, a generally clean space, and a well-equipped kitchen. A kettle and a better stovetop would be useful additions. The staff were friendly and helpful. I did find it a bit overpriced, though. It was about double what I paid for hostels of a similar standard elsewhere in Brazil.

I left without buying anything, and I won’t be back. I went to get ice cream, but the staff wouldn’t tell me how much it cost. While they tried to work it out, they let it melt, then refused to sell it. It’s extremely unprofessional and disrespectful for a restaurant not to know the prices of its own items. Treat your customers better.
