Hostel Dom Jaime

Breakfast was very good and came right on time. On the day we checked out, they even prepared it early so we could have some before leaving. The owners were warm and attentive, and the service was excellent for the price. It exceeded our expectations. The beach and downtown Cabo Frio are both nearby. Highly recommend.

I planned to stay for a week, but ended up staying 11 days. I'm leaving on the 14th with a heavy heart because I met so many wonderful people here, and this may be the best experience of my life. The place has filled with gratitude, love, peace, and a sense of things falling into place. My life won't be the same, and now it has a little taste of Dom Jaime in it. I'm touched and emotional. Ariadne looked after me so warmly even before I arrived. On my first day, we shared a lovely breakfast and such a friendly chat that it felt like we'd known each other for ages. Leo, thank you for all your care and affection. I felt it so many times. Daii, we had amazing moments and took so many photos. We didn't speak the same language, but we understood each other through the heart. You're incredible. Silvinha, you're like my little sister, so caring and attentive, with a contagious sense of humor. Thanks for everything. Pam and Igor, you're both so young and so wonderful. Pam, your smile made me feel at home and welcome. I met so many great people at the hostel, including pato and Rodrigo. We went out and laughed a lot. Michael was such a great person to meet too. We played guitar and sang together, it was perfect. Ray and Tati were so affectionate and made me feel like family. Their many gestures of kindness almost overwhelm me in such a rough world. It was an honor to meet Tati's son Angelo, such a lovely, incredibly smart boy. And Luna, your little nips and kisses made me happier. You stubborn little fluffball, I love you. Forgive me if I've forgotten anyone's name, it's hard to take it all in. Thank you all for everything.

The location is great, right in the heart of Cabo Frio, though prices are higher because of that. The place is clean and well kept, with several fans, included breakfast, clean and functional bathrooms, and pretty hippie-style decor. But the people handling bookings were unreliable and unprofessional. I wanted to stay another day, so I booked and paid the quoted amount by card. About 30 minutes later, the woman in charge casually told me in the hallway, "Actually, there's no room." She only apologized after seeing how stunned I was. She said another booking site had sent her a notification, which just showed how disorganized things were and how little care she took in dealing with people. She didn't know how to refund a charge for a room that didn't exist, went to get the money, and took quite a while.

A lovely spot for anyone wanting to enjoy the peace and quiet of Cabo Frio. The staff are good people and very welcoming, and the atmosphere and other guests make you feel at home in one of the prettiest cities in Rio de Janeiro.
