Hotel Boutique Recanto da Passagem

The hotel was spotless, smelled lovely, and had one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in. We stayed one night in the hydro room, overlooking the river, with a beautiful view of Isla japonês. There was no noise all night. Breakfast was a highlight, with fresh juices, bread, cakes, and everything tasting great. We went out for dinner and loved our meal, though we didn't realize how good breakfast would be and would've liked to try the food at Jose restaurant too. The menu looks great. The pool area was clean and relaxing, and there's a small gym and massage room behind the sauna room, which isn't really a sauna. It's a 10-minute walk to Praia forte and a minute from the boats to Isla japonês. Completely blown away by the hotel, the staff, the food, and the location. It's worth every penny and more. 100% recommend.

The grounds were generally well maintained and clean. In the afternoon they offer something called coffee and cake. But the hotel describes itself as five-star, and by European standards I'd say three at best. Maybe five stars means something different for Brazilians, who seem to be the only guests here. We arrived at 1PM and asked to check in, but couldn't. We went to the restaurant a few meters from reception, where nobody spoke English or another language, and nobody came to tell us there was a restaurant discount code. It felt like they weren't interested in their guests. The room was very basic, and the hotel kitchen smell was strong from early morning until late at night. Loud music played in the area from 6.30AM. The floor looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for weeks; towels cost extra to change and we got one per person. There was no room cleaning, and even the garbage wasn't taken out. Shocking. Breakfast looked great at first, but it's best to get there a few minutes before it starts. The staff seemed completely incompetent: you order something and get only half of it. We ordered four eggs and got one plate, and replacing items on the buffet took ages. I've never seen such a disaster in a hotel. What a pity, though apparently this is standard for Brazilians.

The breakfast was good, and the room looked clean, but the heavy perfume used to cover a moldy smell was unpleasant. In the evening, a couple of cockroaches came up through the shower drain, so I had to block it with a towel. This didn’t feel like a five-star hotel, and nobody spoke any foreign language, such as Spanish or English.

We had a lovely stay. The rooms were roomy and had everything we needed, and the pool was very inviting. It was quiet and clean, with a magical boutique feel and a great location. Adrialla was always smiling and ready to help us with anything. Highly recommended.
