During our stay from 29/12/2019 to 01/01/2020, nobody changed the bathroom trash or swept or mopped our room. The hostel said Wi-Fi was available, but nobody could use it. We were told by the monitors that breakfast would start at 7, but on Sunday the owner said it was served at 8 and that he'd try to move it earlier because we were leaving. On our last day nobody told us when breakfast ended. At 09:40 they were removing what was left, even though people were still getting food. They put 11 people in a windowless room and complained when we asked to turn on the air conditioning. There was one outlet for 12 people, so how were we supposed to take turns using it? When we asked for ice, an employee said they couldn't give us any, then said they didn't sell it either. But when the power went out on the night of 29/12, the two hostel employees said the ice in the fridge had melted and ruined everything. During the argument we had with the owner, Dener, he said plainly that if we weren't satisfied, we should leave. He said he owed us no explanation, only the travel agency GM trip, and that we could just go if we didn't want to stay. It felt inhumane that the hostel turned off the air conditioning and we ran out of drinking water. Our room was next to the barbecue area, which was used every night. When the water ran out in the middle of the night, there was no hostel employee there to talk to. We asked the owner what had happened, and he said he hadn't had time to refill the water jug because it was the middle of the night and he wasn't going to get up to do it. We asked whether he filled it with tap water, but he didn't answer, so the question is still hanging there.

Rose and Lu were really kind and attentive, but the rest of the hostel experience was awful. The rooms were tiny, especially the one with lots of beds. There wasn't room to open a suitcase, and there wasn't space for everyone with so many beds packed in. Air hardly circulated, and the very old air conditioner stopped more often than it worked. On the 31st there was an electrical short, and the showers stopped working, came back on, then stopped again. The room had 15 beds but just one outlet, and breakfast left a lot to be desired. I think the owner was Denner. He seemed more concerned with his own pocket than guests' comfort and convenience. When I tried to tell him I wasn't satisfied, he was very rude and asked if I thought he was doing it on purpose. As a customer, I wasn't there for free and wanted him to solve the problems. Thankfully I was with some wonderful, polite people, and Rio didn't disappoint, because the hostel stay was terrible. Some guests also had no respect for people who were sleeping. It was a lesson learned, and I won't have time to answer any replies here. Happy 2022.

My friends and I spent New Year's at IOIÔ Hostel, and the owner Dener treated us terribly. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. We weren't given bed linen, only the option to rent it. The air conditioning was turned off at night, there was no fan, and our room was next to the barbecue area, which made it even hotter. We slept with the door open to get some air, without feeling secure. Breakfast had very few choices, and the small amount available was replenished only if we asked. Nobody was proactive about it. The room wasn't cleaned during any of our 5 days there, and even the trash was left. I can't recommend this hostel at all. Terrible!
