The family who own and run the place are kind, welcoming, and polite. That's the positive part. The rooms and overall setup aren't cozy or comfortable, though. My room was unbearably hot, and the fan was completely inadequate for the price in that area. I couldn't sleep at night or rest during the day.
The staff in reception, the kitchen, and housekeeping were the one part of our stay that really saved it. The rest left us with no wish to return, and I wouldn't recommend the place. We arrived on 06/01 and had paid for a superior room with air conditioning. While waiting for it to be ready, we stayed in a lower-grade room with a fan and asked if we could just keep it, but they refused because we'd paid for the other room, which they said was better. It wasn't: the air conditioner was old and didn't cool, and the dusty wardrobe was old and missing a drawer. The shower was broken on the first day. The pool stayed filthy throughout our stay, even after we asked for it to be cleaned. Rooms, towels, and bedding were only changed and “cleaned” on the second day, as per the inn's policy, and that cleaning was poor. Breakfast was mediocre with few choices, and the juices were artificial. The reservation said the beach was 500 meters away, but we had to walk a long way to get there.
I felt like I was in the movie “Os farofeiros.” The photos looked beautiful, with a pool and a perfect setup, but when we arrived we learned they were actually of the inn in BÚZIOS. The man told us we could walk everywhere. The next day we drove to the beach and found it was nowhere near as close as he'd said. Several things around the inn were broken, there was mold on the curtain, and a bath towel was torn. Breakfast had very few options. The juices and other drinks that should have been cold were warm, and there wasn't even ice. On the first day, an employee said the freezer was broken; on the second, she said she'd used all the ice in the juice. But we were among the first to eat, and the drinks were already warm. Animals were allowed in the dining room, with no apparent concern that hair could get into the food. There was a lot of dog poop in the parking lot, and the staff didn't even seem to know who was coming and going. If we'd walked in with someone they didn't know, they wouldn't have noticed.
What a horrible stay. I really regret it. When I booked, I asked for a room with a window away from the street if possible, since my son wakes easily. The inn was empty with plenty of vacant rooms from the time we arrived until we left, but they still made no effort to move us. They put us exactly where I hadn't wanted to be. On the first day, the receptionist was serious, cold, curt, and not helpful at all, though the others were pleasant. Breakfast had mold on the gelatin, which looked like it had been there a long time, and the corn bread was hard. They charged R$2,00 for each scrambled egg. I had breakfast at the bakery next door on the other days. The shower sprayed water in every direction, as if nobody had even tried to straighten it with a brush. The shower stall was open, so it soaked the whole bathroom. I don't recommend it.
