Pousada Beach House

The bathroom was dirty, and the shower smelled like a fish tank and had no hot water. The windows were taped up from the inside, which made the room feel like a prison cell. Breakfast had already run out when we arrived, even though there was still an hour left. The rooms were disgusting and smelled awful. I’ve stayed in much better hostels. Avoid this place.

We cut our trip short because staying here was unbearable. The room smelled as if something had gone bad under the bed, and it seemed like it hadn’t been cleaned. The shower was freezing and smelled like a dirty fish tank. The bathroom was disgusting. There was no hand soap, just an empty dispenser, and no toilet paper holder. Woodlice were crawling in a pile under the table. The towels and bedding had visible marks and stains, even the floor towel was dirty. The fridge was rusty, and instead of curtains, the windows were covered with duct tape. The pool shown in the photos doesn’t exist, and breakfast was dreadful, with most of the food gone well before the stated end time. This place is a disgrace and should be inspected immediately. Future guests, don’t waste your money here.

The staff are absolutely amazing, and the rooms are simple but clean. Better pillows and some attention to the rust would help. The beachfront location is wonderful if you want to get away from the crowds at Praia do Forte, though the waves are strong and it isn’t the best beach for swimming.

The food was amazing, and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. The location is fabulous, with a short walk to a beach that seems to go on forever. I’d definitely recommend it.
