Amendoeira Hotel da Vila

It gets quiet at night, once you’re away from the main street, and the staff are attentive and very courteous. The hotel is very simple but good value. It’s right at the entrance to Morro de São Paulo, just after the hill. The square can be noisy early in the morning when boats arrive and people move through the entrance, which may bother guests in front-facing rooms. The beds and pillows are comfortable, and the rooms are clean and airy. The old-style doors have a kind of upper louver that leaves a bit to be desired for privacy. Breakfast is simple but has a good range.

The rooms and breakfast are simple, and the facilities are clean. Staff are attentive. It’s well located near the pier, though being in the center means there’s a lot of street noise. Some air conditioning units are installed in the hallway by the rooms, which looks a bit odd, but it doesn’t really get in the way.

The owners are welcoming, and the price and location are good, right at the entrance to town. It’s a small pousada with a simple, home-style breakfast that tastes good, though there isn’t much variety. If you want to enjoy Morro and just need somewhere to rest, it does the job. They could perhaps add mirrors in the room and improve the Wi-Fi.

The breakfast is very good, with juice, cakes, and fruit, and the staff are friendly, simple, and helpful. The location is very good at the arrival point in Morro de São Paulo, and some rooms have sea views. Standard rooms are quite small, but the mattress and pillows are good, the sheets are new, the air conditioning is new and cools well, and there’s a minibar. The electric shower in my room gave me a bit of a shock. The rooms aren’t very accessible, with at least one flight of stairs to climb.
