Pousada Colibri

The deluxe suite was spacious and very tidy, and we had two hammocks on the balcony with a great view toward the sea. The manager, Tania, welcomed us with an introduction to the island, including sights, restaurants, and boat trips. She was helpful throughout and even arranged for someone to carry our luggage from the ferry to the pousada. The place feels like paradise, perched on a hill among lots of nature. Little monkeys come by in the morning to collect their breakfast. They’re shy and don’t get too close, so there’s no need to be afraid. I can only recommend this pousada. I can’t imagine a better place.

The ocean view from the property was breathtaking, and everything was exceptionally clean. We had an incredible stay in this Brazilian pousada. The hosts and staff were so warm and hospitable. I highly recommend staying with tanja & Pepe. They’ll make your visit unforgettable.

The walk up to the small, separate apartments and pousada buildings takes some effort, but the path is lit, so you don’t feel unsafe or left in the dark. The units hold between one and six people and each has mosquito nets. From this hillside hideaway in Morro, you can walk to both sides of the island and enjoy whichever beach you feel like. A lovely German couple run this getaway tucked among palms and nature, away from the usual routes. They take care of everything and treat guests like friends from the start. Breakfast is hard to beat, served until 11 a.m. with fresh juice, fruit, bread, and homemade items, and it changes every day. You can expect a five-star stay.

The family running this hotel are extremely helpful and focused on service, and the setting is very beautiful. There’s an outdoor pool, and most of the accommodation is in small, individual chalets that give you plenty of privacy. You’ll need to be reasonably fit for the 150 steps up to the hotel, but it’s worth it.
