Pousada Escorregue no Reggae

My stay ended at noon, so I asked if I could leave my luggage at reception until late afternoon and was assured someone would look after it. When I came back at 4 p.m., my bags were sitting outside the pousada with nobody watching them. No one explained why. We were also refused use of any bathroom, and the service we received was awful. I don’t know the woman’s name, only that she was from Argentina. The room itself had problems as well: hairs from previous guests were stuck to the shower tiles, the sheets were stained, and the air conditioner didn’t cool. I do NOT recommend this pousada.

The decor is nice, but I don’t see how this hostel ranks as the fifth best in Brazil. There’s no room service, nobody changes the sheets or collects the trash, and breakfast is basic with few choices. I saw cobwebs in the room, and the lighting was so poor I had to open the window to see. The receptionist treated us very badly and wasn’t helpful, just kept looking at the computer. The only person who chatted and smiled was the cleaning woman. On the day I left, a foreign guy at reception treated me really well.

For what they charge, I’ve stayed in better places, with rooms that don’t smell moldy, a better breakfast, and friendlier service. This one really fell short. I booked at the last minute, when the island was full and there weren’t many places available, so I didn’t have much choice. I can’t recommend it.

Good value for the price. The guy at reception treated us really well, and the hostel is near the town center. Breakfast was simple and could’ve included things like eggs, but what I had was fresh and tasty. Room 02 was clean, and the air conditioning worked well.
