The evening concerts were a real highlight, with amazing live music and a fantastic atmosphere. The food was only acceptable, though, and waiting for meals, check-in, or other requests took a long time. The service processes felt inefficient, and the time-share sellers in the hallways were hard to avoid. The gym has a beautiful setting in the forest, but it's small, crowded, and filled with old equipment. The pools are nicely warm, but debris from the pool bars was often floating in them. Compared with international resorts, especially in Mexico, Rio Quente feels more like a lower-end RIU. It has charm and potential, but needs better service, maintenance, and guest experience. My stay had some enjoyable parts, but was average overall.
