The one bright spot was breakfast, simple but satisfying and better than we expected. We also heard the woman making breakfast tell a guest she wouldn’t make eggs because she’d already made eggs for someone else that day, which was ridiculous. The room was the standard one, supposedly not among the worst, but it had no window at all. I’ve never seen that before. Don’t people need to breathe and avoid feeling claustrophobic? I got extremely sick because of that room and didn’t sleep at all during our 2 days there because I had panic attacks. It’s a shame, since Jauá has no other hotels and this one is 100m from a mansion where weddings are usually held, which is why we were there. They should have invested in the hotel, knowing people book for that reason. The room also smelled moldy. With those high rates, this is unacceptable. My stay was the worst hotel experience of my life. Please don’t stay here. Señor Dono do Galeão Pirata, renovate this place! My criticism isn’t positive, but I’m saying it because urgent action is needed. Put yourself in the guests’ shoes. A hotel shouldn’t have rooms without windows, even if it’s only some of them.

I wouldn't recommend this place. The rate felt high for what was offered, and the facilities need work: the restaurant setup was disappointing, the pool area needed attention, and the floor had patchwork repairs. There was nothing in the minibar, not even water or another drink. The rooms also lacked ventilation and natural light.

The food at lunch was a bright spot: the owner is a chef, and her moqueca was wonderful. Staff were kind and helpful too. But I wouldn't stay here again. The pool is opened to day-use visitors, and by around 1 p.m. the small pool was so dirty it was impossible to use. The sea in front of the inn was too rough and dangerous for swimming, while the beach where we could swim was a 30-minute walk away. Our ground-floor room was cramped, and in some rooms the double bed is actually two old wooden single beds pushed together. At about 11 p.m., the owners, who I believe are a couple, were shouting loudly about inn business. I called reception, but felt so awkward that I stayed silent on the line, hoping they'd realize and stop. It disrupted our sleep. Breakfast was very basic. They served us rather than letting us serve ourselves, though we could ask for the amount we wanted. The homemade bread was good, and they offered to fry eggs to order. Beyond that, there were ham and cheese, two kinds of traditional cake, and simple fruit like papaya, watermelon, and melon. It was one of the worst inn breakfasts I've had. If you don't want your vacation or free time spoiled, I'd choose a place with a higher nightly rate and better quality. I've had bad experiences like this before.

The service was wonderful, and the place feels really cozy with a nice sea view. Still, the lack of a functioning kitchen and the upkeep of the leisure area let it down.
