The Superior Chalet gave us plenty of room, and it’s set well apart from the other chalets, so it was very quiet. It had three beds, two singles and one double, two bathrooms, a TV, a kitchen, and a fireplace. The manager was very polite and had lots of ideas for things to do in Monte Verde. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of traditional dishes.

We took a family trip and booked two Superior Chalets next to each other, which was great. Sr. Sebastião was very thoughtful about arranging that. The setting is wonderful and really relaxing, with mountain views and a generous green space. The breakfast was delicious and homemade, prepared with care. Sr. Sebastião, the hotel caretaker, was polite and did his best to meet guests’ needs. The shower took some figuring out, and when we finally got the water hot, it could be so hot it burned the skin, making it impossible to stay under for long. The hotel was built in the 1980s and feels dated, with some updates urgently needed. Also, the location shown on TripAdvisor and Booking is wrong: the hotel is about 9.5 km from the Monte Verde district. Since it’s a bit far from town, take extra care on the road in rainy weather and after dark, as it can get quite dangerous.
