The reception team made a great impression. They were quick, courteous, and answered my questions promptly. I booked directly through WhatsApp and appreciated being able to speak with real people instead of dealing with everything online. I stayed in January, and this was my second visit to a place owned by the same people, Canada Lodge. The location is close to Capivari, about a 10-15 minute walk if you enjoy walking. My bed was extremely comfortable, the sheets were clean and good quality, and although many rooms have carpet, mine looked clean. The bathroom was a good size. Guests can also get coffee or cappuccino at any time from the machine near reception. A few small things could be improved. Breakfast had plenty of options, and the cinnamon roll was delicious, as was the omelet. The cakes didn’t have the homemade quality I remembered from Canada Lodge, and the chicken pie was cold on both days. I warmed it in the microwave, but I’m not sure why it was served cold. The afternoon snack was another point of comparison for me: at Canada Lodge it’s much better. Since the nightly rates are similar, I was a little disappointed. If you haven’t stayed there, though, the snack here is a nice extra, with cheese bread and cake. The first batch of cheese bread was always served cold, so the person baking it might need to keep an eye on the timing. The pool looks much larger on the website than it is, and guests need to book a time slot to use it. That’s fine, but I think the size and booking requirement should be mentioned on the site or Booking.com. Maybe I missed that information. There’s also a thermos of hot water and tea bags by reception, but the water was nearly cold when I tried to make tea around 4 p.m. on both days. The inn is very good, and these details don’t take away from that. They just seem like small, easy things for the team to address and improve the guest experience.
