Mater Hotel

We stayed here for an event connected to our wedding, and the whole experience went beyond what we expected. Maura deserves a special mention for being so caring and helpful. The team was attentive from the very start, even before we arrived, and kept looking after us in every detail. The rooms are cozy and lovely, and the shared spaces are beautiful places to relax and spend time together. This is a special place that has become part of our story, and we’ll definitely think of it as a second home. Thank you for making our occasion even more meaningful.

The hotel is right beside Catedral de Pedras, and the location is perfect. It used to be a convent school and has been renovated beautifully. We stayed four days and were well looked after throughout. Maura welcomed us and was professional, polite, and always helpful; Edson also treated us very well. Everyone on staff was courteous and ready to help. There are thoughtful comforts for guests, including water, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate whenever you want. I did miss having bikes available for guests. One small practical issue: the bathroom bin looks nice with the decor, but opening it by hand isn't functional. A pedal bin would be better. I'd recommend the hotel and would stay again when I'm in the area.

The Café Cultura breakfast was the best we've ever had at a hotel. Guests have a reserved area, and the food is made fresh with so much care and attention to detail. Everything was impressive, and the quality and friendly service made it a standout experience. The cafe is worth visiting even if you're not staying at the hotel. The wine bar balcony overlooking the church in Canela was another highlight. Having a glass of wine there at sunset felt special. Our room was fantastic, all new and decorated with great taste. Maura's welcome, service, and warmth deserve a mention, and the other staff were great too, though we interacted less with them. Mater has become our clear favorite in Canela/Gramado. The building used to be a school, and the careful decor has made this historic place a real beauty. The hotel has a huge lounge with a breathtaking view of the Canela main church, plus a large relaxation area. Water and coffee are available anytime, and there's a self-service selection of wines and sparkling wines. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful. Thanks to Fabiana, Maura, Ruan, Yan, and Édson. Breakfast at Café Cultura was delicious, and the cafe itself is beautiful. You can enter it directly from inside the hotel.
