Pousada Catedral

The location is a real plus, right beside the stone cathedral, with plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance. There’s private, covered parking at no extra charge, included in the nightly rate. The inn has seven rooms at different prices. Even if it’s your first stay and a higher-category room is available, they won’t offer an upgrade. Check-in was polite and friendly: they handed over the keys and explained things, then it felt like the house was yours. The front door stays locked, which feels secure. Breakfast is varied and served at the table, with a view along the side of the cathedral. The orange juice is fresh, and the pão de queijo is baked to order. Hand sanitizer is on the tables and the napkins are individually wrapped. The room was cozy and had a stocked minibar, a closed wardrobe, split air conditioning, paid TV channels, and enough well-placed outlets. It blocks sunlight well, and the sound insulation is reasonable. The bed and linens were very good. The bathroom is simple, with a hair dryer and a good mirror. The shower stall is small, has no grab bar, and uses an electric shower, but the water pressure is good and the temperature is easy to control. Toiletries are very basic. There’s also a nice, cozy sitting room, along with a microwave and utensils. Overall, the value for money is reasonable.

We had such a memorable, pleasant stay at pousada Catedral. The room was warm, comfortable, and clean, which was just right for winter, and the place itself is cozy and very well located. Breakfast was excellent. Our hosts were incredibly kind and courteous, and did everything they could to make us happy.

I hesitated because the price was so good, but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a small hotel with just a few rooms and breakfast service. The location is great, parking is excellent, and the woman who helped us was friendly and kind. The rooms are arranged with care, and you can see the love in every space. The one drawback is that access is by stairs, which would make it difficult for people with mobility problems. It was a great experience for me, and I hope to return.

You can’t go wrong recommending this place. The owners are very warm, the welcome is friendly, and it’s cozy, well equipped, and right next to the Catedral de Pedra. The room was good, with a minibar, air conditioning, TV with Netflix and Prime Vídeo, and quality shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. Breakfast was a real treat. It’s close to all the best restaurants, bars, and shops in central Canela. One tip: there’s a gallery almost next door that sells delicious wines, cheeses, and colonial salamis from a family agricultural business.
