Hotel Ville House Premium

The street was quiet, and the windows blocked out the light well, so the room got very dark. Those were the only positives for me. Breakfast was disappointing: food that should have been hot was cold and looked like it had been made the day before. The tables and chairs were dirty. I watched an employee clear used plates and just spread the crumbs around, even onto the chairs. The coffee was weak, too. The room wasn't cleaned well either. There were cobwebs on the ceiling, and although it was a double bed, they left just one single sheet, which was strange. The bathroom looked unhygienic, especially the glass shower enclosure, which seemed not to have been cleaned. We got just two basic, scratchy bath towels that barely dried us. I asked for face towels and a floor towel, but they left only one more bath towel, so I had to use it on the floor. Water leaked out of the shower enclosure and flooded the bathroom when I turned on the shower.

The only upside was having a restaurant in the hotel. I had to ask for a top sheet because apparently they don't provide them anymore. The shower enclosure leaked water across the floor, which was soaked and partly torn. There's no bedside light. We also had to ask for bath towels and a face towel. For a double room, shouldn't there be at least two bath towels? And a heads-up: the shower door is so narrow that if you're overweight or have diastasis, you can't get through it. A hotel should give guests comfort, not just make things convenient for itself. This isn't free, and it's no favor.

The rooms were quite nice for a budget hotel, and breakfast was included and very good. It's in a safe area, the price is good, and parking is inside the hotel, though the gate stays open all night. Getting back on the road takes a short detour. I'm not giving it five stars because we'd arranged two adjoining rooms for my family, and the hotel had even assigned room numbers, but when we arrived they didn't honor those assignments. They said the rooms had only been pre-assigned and they weren't required to follow that, even though I had a formal reservation with their room numbers. We needed the teenagers to be in the adjoining room, it wasn't just a whim. Reception service at both check-in and check-out was the other problem. They showed no empathy, and I don't know why.

Really good hotel and great value for money. The breakfast was delicious, with lots of savory and sweet options. The housekeeping staff and the night receptionist were wonderful.
