Hotel Costa Norte Massaguaçu

We stayed for 11 days, so we got a pretty good feel for the place. The rooms all look out to sea, and ours was a decent size, with a good sized balcony. Housekeeping came every day, changed the towels, and did a very good job. The pool area was passable, though not especially clean. Someone washed the decking every day, and we saw the pool itself being cleaned once. We missed having service at the pool bar. The music was too loud when we wanted to read or relax, so we asked four times for it to be turned down, and they did lower it. Wi-Fi barely worked in our room and only reached the balcony. It was a little better around the pool. The most disruptive part was the construction. On our first day there was very loud concrete drilling, and the work continued to make it hard to relax. Paying guests shouldn't have to put up with that kind of noise; surely it could be scheduled for the low season. Reception was another weak spot. Most days, staff didn't even acknowledge us when we came in or left, and the young women there seemed absorbed in their phones or the computer. I haven't seen that sort of behavior at a hotel before. The young man working evenings, I think his name was Leo, was the complete opposite: friendly and attentive every time. The daytime staff could learn from him. We found the restaurant dirty and worn out. The food was okay, but many dishes were sized for two. Since we wanted different meals, we had to pay 60% of the price. Breakfast itself was good, but the display looked awful. The cake covers were old, dirty, and torn, and the only milk came in a carton, not a jug. Little things like that would make the presentation much nicer. We do plan to come back because we have family nearby. I hope they take some of this feedback on board, train the reception team better, improve how breakfast is presented, and make a real improvement to pool bar service.
