Nothing out of the ordinary.

The breakfast was generous, and they changed the towels, which I appreciated. But my room wasn't ready even though I arrived after check-in had started. I was feeling sick from the heat and still had to wait while it was cleaned. The stairs leading to the double bed and balcony were very narrow and dangerous. The balcony is the room's only window and source of ventilation, so I wouldn't recommend this place for families with children. The minibar outlet sparked and crackled a few times. The minibar sits under the wooden stairs, right by the wooden floor, which made that feel especially worrying. The pool is small, and could be hard to use if the inn is full. Service was very disappointing. When we complained, we got an extremely rude and discourteous response. They don't know how to apologize for mistakes or try to keep customers. If you want to be treated well during your stay in town, I'd look for another inn.

The breakfast was generous and tasty, and our suite was spacious and clean. The double bed was up on a mezzanine reached by a very steep staircase, though, and the minibar was empty since guests are allowed to bring whatever they want to eat or drink. The shared area had a pool and a pool table. In the booking photos the pool looked much bigger and less shallow. We were warmly welcomed by the owner, which helped ease the initial impression of the setting: the inn is close to the road, with a private cemetery across it. We felt uneasy about safety on the first day, but that passed during our stay. The location also made it easy to reach the beaches: Massaguaçu is a 600-meter walk, Cocanha about 10 minutes by car without traffic, and Prainha and Martin de Sá around 15 minutes away. I had a pleasant stay.

The suite itself was fine, but I left frustrated after six days. The pool was dirty from Sunday through Friday, the sauna advertised online did not work, and breakfast had a very limited menu. While my boyfriend and I were still eating, the owner of Astro Rei, Mário, was already clearing the table. There aren't restaurants around the inn, and the swimmable beaches aren't close by. I arrived Saturday night and left Saturday morning; if I hadn't already booked through Booking, I would have moved to another inn near Cocanha beach.
