Pousada Riacho Doce

I left a more detailed review on Booking, but wanted to share one here for people checking Google too. My mother and I had a lovely, peaceful stay. There are lots of plants and flowers, and the place feels very cozy. The space worked great for two, though the rooms are small, so I'd suggest booking more than one if you're coming with a big group. We got around on foot without trouble. The inn is close to downtown, Praia da Indaiá, and Praia do Centro. The owners were wonderful, calm, and understanding, and always gave us suggestions for places to eat. There's a cleaning attendant every day, and everything is very well organized. The only thing that made me sad was that I didn't get to say goodbye to the kitty. Haha. I have no other complaints. Breakfast is quite simple. That suited my mother and me, since we wanted to eat lightly before heading out to enjoy the beach. If you prefer a much heartier breakfast, there are several bakeries nearby. If you're driving, keep in mind that the inn doesn't have a large parking area. The place is very calm and relaxed.

I've never stayed anywhere this bad. We arrived during New Year's week and were put in the first room, right next to the kitchen, so every bit of noise early in the morning carried straight in. The fan was awful, and I've never been so hot. Breakfast was really poor and very different from what we'd seen on Booking, with no eggs or bananas, just basic things missing. The bathroom door wouldn't close properly. When pushed, it felt like it might fall off and made a huge noise. There were holes in the wooden doors, and to top it all off, a huge cockroach came out.

The service and welcome were great, and Katia is a wonderful host. The rooms are very basic and small, and aren't very comfortable in hot weather. Still, they have what you need: towels, blankets, working air conditioning, and a good TV. Breakfast is simple too, but the location is excellent, with bakeries, shops, and restaurants all close by, which makes the price worthwhile.

Simple but cozy, and the price was very affordable. It's right in the center, close to everything, and breakfast was really good. The staff were very honest. If you want to spend little and enjoy the city and beaches, this place worked well for me. It's good for bus travelers too: the bus station isn't too far, and you can walk there. Getting around by taxi, Uber, or bus is easy enough. It suited my budget and expectations.
