Vila Almesca

The pool was a dream, and our room was clean and so stylish. The staff were wonderful too. Shops and restaurants are nearby, with an easy walk to either the beach or the river. It felt luxurious while still fitting Caraíva's rustic, bohemian, welcoming feel. One of the most gorgeous places I've stayed. Can't wait to return!

The room was beautiful and original, with a shell-shaped bathroom, a pleasant private pool, comfortable bedding, and a good breakfast served on the terrace. But privacy was limited, since the rooms are very close and you can hear the neighbors. Getting there took some planning we hadn't been told about. There are no ATMs, so bring cash. Cars can't go all the way in, and you have to leave yours in an open area where paid parking is mandatory, then walk about six minutes over sand. The mule taxis for luggage also only take cash. Check-in was quick and basic, without much help. At €250 a night, I expected more complete service. It's a pretty, unusual place, but I'm not sure the price matches what you get.

We spent eight nights here, and it really felt like a dream. The inn has just four rooms, so it's very quiet and intimate. Each one has a small private pool upstairs, a lovely extra that made the stay feel special. The room was romantic, welcoming, and thoughtfully decorated, just right for privacy and rest. Staff were attentive, gentle, and always helpful, with a real sense of care. The à la carte breakfast was wonderful too, made with care and full of little touches and flavors. We'd definitely come back.

Breakfast was very good, and the woman serving it was extremely friendly. Unfortunately, we had two problems. The air conditioner never made the room properly cold, even though we were told to just keep the door closed. The shower water wouldn't heat up either. We reported it from the start, but left without a repair or even an apology. They kept saying to turn the tap only a little to the left, until we asked someone to come check with us and they saw it wasn't heating. Hot water is basic comfort on any stay. We also found out the people next door had the same issue.
