Pousada Recanto Das Familias

The setting won me over: it's leafy, pleasant for kids, and a river runs behind the inn, which is nice for both children and older guests. The staff were attentive and helpful, and I'd come back for the scenery. Our chalet's rooms were small. The TV wouldn't respond to the remote, and the bathroom had no division between the shower and the rest of the room, so we had to keep pushing water away with a squeegee. That was awful. The food side needs work too: breakfast had little variety, lunch and dinner dishes were expensive, drink choices were limited, and whenever we asked for coffee there seemed to be an excuse that it wasn't available. Eating couscous without coffee was rough. We were invited to spend a different kind of weekend here with family, and I arrived without high expectations, but I ended up liking the place.

The price feels high for what the place offers now, with little comfort and spaces that look worn and almost abandoned. I came back after a wonderful visit two years ago and brought guests this time, so the change was disappointing. At this rate, the property really needs a major renovation, and soon.

This was our second stay, and the food and drinks were good for fair prices. The staff are always ready to help, too. Wi-Fi is weak downstairs, but honestly, the place is better enjoyed without being connected anyway.

The natural scenery and peaceful atmosphere make this a very pleasant spot. In the couple's chalet, though, both the bedroom and bathroom felt small, and the curtains let in enough light to bother me while sleeping. Reception could be better, and the food choices are quite limited.
