Pousada Das Candeias

Miss this place.

It’s a charming stay in a lovely spot, close to the square. The place is rustic, with only a few pieces of furniture, an old TV, and a bathroom without a glass shower enclosure. I came to the countryside for exactly that kind of experience, so it was perfect for me. ☺️

The restaurant is excellent, serving traditional dishes in its own distinctive way. The inn has an impressive setup, a great location, and live music on weekends. For me, it’s the best pousada in town.

It’s quiet and feels safe, and the owner is always helpful with lodging questions and suggestions for outings. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and even on cold days the shower got hot enough for a good bath. The pousada is well placed in Carrancas. It’s a five-minute walk to the square in the small town. There’s no parking lot, but parking right out front felt fine.
