Hostel Casa do Rogerio

Really great!!

The staff were the best part for me. The kitchen guy was really polite and attentive, and so were the women at reception. Breakfast was pretty simple. I found the shower timer interesting: it gives you 8 minutes, which is enough for a regular shower and saves water, though it can feel a bit short if you have long hair and need to wash it. This was my first hostel stay, and it was just okay. I had a double room with hot and cold air conditioning. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean and smelled fresh. I’m very sensitive to smells, and there was a strong odor coming from the panels used as partitions. I couldn’t sleep well in the double bed near the bathroom because of it, so I slept in one of the bunks instead. The bathroom was also quite small, which some guests might want to keep in mind.

The lack of privacy was a big letdown. Reception is inside the house, which is shared with several guests, and there’s only one kitchen table for everyone to use. That makes no sense. The bathroom shower has a timer and shuts off when the time runs out. Why go somewhere to relax if you can’t even take a peaceful shower? There was also a bug on the bathroom floor. The hotel didn’t live up to expectations: the pool was dirty and much smaller than it looked in the photos, and breakfast wasn’t all that good. It was a terrible experience for me. I don’t recommend it and won’t come back.

A lovely, clean place with impeccable service. The women at reception really stand out, always available and attentive. I’ll come back and recommend it whenever I get the chance.
