Ajax Hotel

Clean and fine for a single night. It’s a mid-range place, and breakfast is basic.

The view of the Rio doce was incredible. Breakfast was really good too, and the hotel is excellent, with an ibis standard.

The hot shower was probably the only thing that made the stay worthwhile. My room had a lovely view, but that doesn’t justify a nightly rate of nearly 500 reais. The internet was awful, the rooms felt dated, some furniture was broken, and breakfast had very few options. The price doesn’t match what the hotel could offer.

I stayed from the 26th to the 27th, and the breakfast situation really bothered me. At around 6:30, I saw a large group eating, but staff stopped me from going in because it was supposedly a restricted group. The attendant said they had booked the early breakfast, which honestly made no sense to me. I’d been told breakfast would start at 7 because of the holiday, and I thought that applied to everyone. It seemed the hotel was making an exception for a group or for people paying more. That’s disappointing. If there’s a rule, even a temporary one, it should apply to all guests. The area wasn’t empty, and staff were there, so I might have understood if nobody had been around. The hotel should pay more attention to its guests, especially those who stay regularly throughout the year. Please improve this.
