Pousada das Hortensias

My grandmother had a terrible stay here. The owners were rude and accused guests of stealing a mug without any proof. When the mug turned up in another room, they didn’t even apologize. There’s also no receptionist around the clock. They need to improve how they welcome tourists.

Mariza was very attentive, but we were disappointed by the room we were given. It was small and had no real privacy because its window faced a passageway used by other guests. The room had no style, and a study lamp on the bed was attached with a makeshift screw that fell out whenever we bumped it. The tiny bathroom also seemed neglected. The toilet had a pull cord on the water tank that was dirty and unfinished, and it took several flushes to work properly. There was a loose drain right in the middle of the shower stall. We were upset by the lack of care, since we’d paid a fair price for a very poor stay. We booked days ahead, and they should at least have told us about the room’s condition. Unfortunately, I didn’t take photos to prove what I’m saying.

The breakfast was fantastic, and the welcome felt warm and friendly, almost VIP. The suites were super clean and quiet, close to the center but away from the noise. A wonderful, cozy place.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner. The room was always clean, and there’s an organized parking area on site. Breakfast was great too. Ten out of ten!
