Cristal Park Hotel

From the balcony across the way, you can watch macaws and parrots settling into the trees in the square to sleep. A very good hotel.

The one thing going for this hotel is its location. I stayed here for a work trip, and the room was nothing like the pictures online: small, musty and full of mold, including the shower stall. The bathroom door couldn't open all the way because it hit the sink. The smell of mold was unpleasant on the floor and in the room, and the air conditioner looked ancient. The old TV only got Record. I also found the staff very unprepared. There was renovation work going on, with a lot of noise and construction dust, but nobody had told me about it. After eating an egg at breakfast, I came down with gastroenteritis, with vomiting and diarrhea while at work. After sleeping on the hotel pillows, I developed conjunctivitis too. At check-in, I asked to add an extra night and was told I'd pay for it when I checked out. They forgot to charge me, and I forgot too because I was exhausted from work. That evening, they messaged me to collect the fee. They were very inflexible and rude about everything I'd been through and insisted on the full nightly rate. I'd taken photos of the room but unfortunately deleted them, and only sent them with my Booking.com review. I won't stay at Cristal Park Hotel again.

Everything looked lovely and organized despite the renovation, and the staff were very polite. Sheila at reception deserves a special mention. She was so welcoming and attentive to me, as well as very courteous. We need more professionals like her. Well done, Sheila, you make a difference!

The shower barely put out any water, took ages to get even slightly warm, and leaked under the stall until the bathroom flooded, though the person showering didn't get wet. The rooms need maintenance. My room was dusty when I arrived, and the balcony had lots of leaves on it. I took the key to work with me, and when I came back there had been no cleaning or towel change. Maybe taking the key was my mistake, but I'd expect a hotel to have a spare, or at least to tell guests to leave theirs at reception. I wonder if they'll charge a cleaning fee. Customer service needs work.
