Delmond Hotel

My stay at Delmond Hotel was a major disappointment. I booked through its website, but the dates were changed without my approval, and my credit card was charged without authorization. I contacted the hotel right away and raised it with the receptionist at check-in, but they ignored the complaint and nobody followed up or tried to fix it. One of the phone numbers on the website doesn't work either, making it nearly impossible to reach them. The booking system is unreliable, the customer service is terrible, and the hotel shows no respect for its guests. I strongly advise against staying at Delmond Hotel.

We were there for just one night and arrived late. The hotel seems geared more toward business travelers. Breakfast this morning, March 14, was disgraceful: I waited and waited for hot water for tea, but the woman in charge dismissed me and ignored my request. There were tea bags but no hot water. I watched other people who seemed familiar to the staff come in and get various hot drinks. We made a formal complaint to the food and beverages manager. I'm unhappy and felt discriminated against. This hotel doesn't really seem set up for Europeans, and I wouldn't recommend it.

Our rooms were a bit of a mystery: my colleagues and I were all assigned accessible rooms, with the explanation that the hotel was 'full', though I never saw it crowded. After two nights, we all got regular rooms. The room itself was comfortable and had everything needed, though nothing special. The bed was amazingly comfortable, with lovely clean, soft sheets, and the shower had great force. In the large, modern lobby, staff were friendly, but outside regular hours it was hard to find an English-speaking clerk. Check-in and checkout also took a while. Breakfast had a nice range, including fresh juices and sweet pastries, though the scrambled eggs could use improvement. We were nearly alone at dinner, so service felt almost personal. The menu was limited, but the food quality was excellent. All in all, a very good hotel.

On my third stay here, I still found the rooms clean and comfortable, with a good menu and a generous breakfast buffet. The pool is big enough for a quick swim, but getting a drink means asking reception to send someone over. The only receptionists who speak proper English are there during check-in and checkout, so outside those hours it's hard to get help in English.
