The staff were very polite and clearly wanted us to have a good stay. We had the pousada to ourselves, so breakfast was made just for us. It’s a welcoming, pretty place with a great view of pedra azul. I’m just not sure how noisy it might be when there’s a wedding in the hotel hall.

The rooms are good, the bathrooms are extremely clean and tidy, and the whole place is kept organized. Service was great too. But the lunch area, including breakfast and dinner, is painfully slow. Even when there’s nobody else there, they take ages to bring the food. It gets ridiculous. Seriously, don’t have dinner here!

The location is a real plus if you’re going to an event at Centro de Eventos Morangão, and Pousada Itamaraty is lovely, cozy, and well cared for. My room was beautifully decorated, and the bedding was spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was good, much like at other pousadas nearby, though I missed local treats such as homemade biscuits or strawberry cake, which other stays in the area usually serve. I’d put it at around a 7. The price is similar to Pousada dos Pinhos and Pousada Pedra Azul, but those places have more indoor leisure options, so I’d mainly recommend this one for the convenience of getting to Morangão. Getting there by car isn’t easy because the hill is very steep. My room faced the street, and at times I could hear car tires struggling to climb it. The corridors had sand and mud in the morning, possibly from the rain, and I didn’t see anyone cleaning them then. One small thing: there were hairs in the sink drain, so I had to unclog it myself. It was easy to fix, but still something they could improve.

Duda, the chef, was impressively capable, and breakfast was exceptional. Everyone I dealt with was so attentive and surprised me with how caring they were. I had a wonderful stay, would recommend it, and will definitely come back.

The team deserves a 10! Such a comfortable place, with a wonderful view.
