The food was the one thing that saved the stay. Everything else felt lacking, and the price was high for what the place offered. I did a Carnival package at Caluje in 2026. The recreation for adults was very weak, just bingo and a couple of other things, and the entertainer didn't invite everyone to join in. For children it seems to work, but I mostly saw the recreation staff eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I found the activities dull and unnecessary, and I missed “Tio Guto”. Staff barely said good morning, afternoon, or evening. They seemed very eager to get us to sign the consumption tab, including for 510 ml water at R$ 5,50. The only person who really talked with us was Luís from the cafeteria. He was polite, friendly, cheerful, and attentive, very different from the others. There was a Carnival block, but guests weren't told to bring something green even though it was the lemon block. Communication was lacking, and it ended up restricted because the abadá cost R$ 50. Reception service was weak too. The hotel did a huge renovation at the main building without adding air conditioning. It was extremely hot and full of mosquitoes, and I didn't see why the expansion was needed. Solar panels would have been a good idea. Vale do Sol is still the same as when I visited four years ago. It needs updating: the chalets have no internet, there are ceiling fans, the hot water doesn't work properly, and the door is warped. The route to Vale do Sol could be cleaner, improved, and better signposted. The whole place looks abandoned and neglected. I don't plan to come back under these conditions.
